Even better than “Down in the Tube Station after Midnight,” which is pretty amazing in its own right with such great lines as:
I first felt a fist, and then a kick
I could now smell their breath
They smelt of pubs and wormwood scrubs
And too many right wing meetings.
But I’ll go back and listen to these songs, many of which i haven’t listened to in years. As for his solo work, it seems I keep getting sucked into believing the hype that whatever new album has just come out is a ‘return to form’ and I’m always disappointed.
